President Obama: “Protecting Our Security and Our Values”

Written by Christianity and the Confusion on May 22nd, 2009

President Obama delivered a major speech this morning, in which he addressed a number of recent foregin policy decisions — including the closing of the Guantanamo Bay prison — and the values that guide him, and our nation. He acknowledged that, in the midst of many challenges, his single most important responsibility as President is to keep the American people safe. “That is the first thing that I think about when I wake up in the morning,” he said. “It is the last thing that I think about when I go to sleep at night.”

I'm not saying that I agreed with everything that Dick Cheney had to say, but I think you should include his speech as well.

I was preparing to undertake the difficult task of making a video to rebut what Cheney said (and still may) when I found this, to which I would only add that when 52 warnings where given to the White House of the coming 9/11 attack, then President George W. Bush turn to his second in command and put him in charge of the counter intelligence on Terrorism and Al-Qaeda. The fact is that Mr. Cheney for reasons that only he knows did nothing, he did not even meet with that committee until almost the fateful day of 9/11. What was Cheney doing? Well, maybe all of his records should be opened to the public, because he sure did not do his job of protecting us on 9/11.

Cheney’s speech false to fact and reason

The former vice president has today humiliated himself beyond redemption.
The delusional claims he has made this day could be proved by documentation and first-hand testimony to be the literal truth, and still he himself would be wrong, because the America he sought to impose upon the world and upon its own citizens, the dark hateful place of Dick Cheney's own soul, the place he to this hour defends and to this day prefers, is a repudiation of all that our ancestors, all that for which our brave troops of 200 years ago and two minutes ago, have sacrificed and fought. Ok, I'll agree that the Vice President isn't the best speaker but he was right when he said that we can't have one administration prosecuting the previous one. Like it or not, President Bush was elected by the people and that meant that the actions of his administration were sanction by the American people.
