Investigate Them All!  We need Ongoing investigations of everyone who is seeking or holding a Public Office!

Wednesday, August 25th, 2021

[Article][Issues: Justice, Congress, President, Judges]

The United States needs a permanent Independent Prosecutor’s Office, which would conduct ongoing investigations of every elected individual, from President down to dog catcher. Republicans have been more than willing to investigate Democrats with partisan prosecutors, but are highly reluctant to do the same for their own. Kenneth Starr was an extreme Right-winger who did conduct a witch hunt, where Robert Mueller is a Republican, who was only seeking the truth. If the Democrats had insisted on someone as far to the Left as Starr was to the Right, it would never have happened.

When Republicans did their partisan impeachment of President Clinton they claimed that they were being unbiased, but when the Democrats seek only to see all the evidence and hear from all the witnesses, these same Republicans scream bias!  Where we do not need partisan witch hunts as done by Starr or the Republicans, we do need to have thorough investigations of everyone in the employment of the United States. That means that investigations should begin when they first announce their candidacies or are up for an appointment to the day that they leave office, and if there are crimes, then there must be criminal charges brought.  In the case of Donald Trump, he would have been cleared or blocked long before he could have run for or assumed office.

At this point, there is no evidence of wrongdoing for anyone on the Democratic side.  However, the same cannot be said for Donald Trump. Those trying to redirect attention away from Trump are doing so because they know that there is so much corruption there that if it all becomes public, Donald Trump could find himself looking at a prison sentence and who knows how many others he will drag to prison with him!  All of this could have been avoided had Trump been subjected to an investigation before he was ever allowed to run.

Anyone seeking such an office is asking for a job working for the American people.  We the people are the employers of every elected and appointed individual.  An employer can do drug tests that can tell that employer what type of medication the person is on, and given the cost of health insurance, that person might not be hired.  We all surrender our privacy to one point or another for a job.  Many employers monitor their employees on Facebook and take action if they don’t like what that employee is saying.   Why should any elected or appointed person be treated any differently than any other American worker?  Some, mistakenly think that obtaining such an office makes them the boss, however just the opposite is true, everyone holding a public office is an employee of the American people!  Why should these employees be treated any differently than other American workers?

What we need are ongoing investigations of everyone seeking or holding a public office, and by running, that person is consenting to have all of their private information gone over with a fine-tooth comb.  Anyone who refuses to release the requested information for investigation would automatically be removed from office or would not be allowed on the ballot.  If we are serious about cleaning up Washington, wouldn’t this be a good start?

Questions:
Why don’t we create that Independent Prosecutor Office to investigate all politicians?  Shouldn’t everyone in our employment have to prove that they are working for the better interests of the American people?  Why is this a partisan issue?  Why do most Republicans oppose such an office that would watch the watchers?

House committee plans to seek phone records in probe of January 6, including from members of Congress

Wednesday, August 25th, 2021

[Video and Article] [Issues: Insurrection, Investigating all involved, Justice]

Quote:
The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot is poised to send notices to various telecommunications companies requesting that they preserve the phone records of several people, including members of Congress, multiple sources tell CNN.

Preserving communications records is the first step in an investigatory process that could eventually lead to witness testimony. The notices are set to go out as soon as this week and provide the first window into the kinds of information the committee plans to pursue…

Democrats have also accused some of their GOP colleagues of interacting with individuals who stormed the US Capitol prior to the attack…

“I can tell you that we’ll look at everything that will give us information on what happened on January 6,” Thompson said. “We will look at all records at some point.”…

The scope and purview of the committee’s work was part of what led to Republicans revolting over the concept of an independent bipartisan commission, but the select committee will likely be more expansive than the independent commission Republicans blocked in the spring.

The resolution empowering the Select Committee provides no specific limitations as to what it can and cannot investigate, leaving it up to the Committee to impose its own guard rails and narrower focus.

Initial plans involve compiling massive amounts of data, documents and eventually compelling testimony from a wide swath of potential witnesses, including members of Congress, former members of the Trump administration, and some of the hundreds of rioters who have been charged with assaulting the Capitol that day…

Questions:
The rumors are that many members of Congress were involved in the insurrection, do you think that is the case?  If so, how many Republicans do you think could be implicated?  If any lawmakers were involved, what should happen to them?  Do you think that some lawmakers might be worried?  Republicans are already threatening revenge for the investigation, but why?  If they haven’t done anything wrong, why are they so upset?  If no members of Congress were involved in the insurrection, does that mean that the Republicans are coving for Trump?

The Psychopath and Chief

Friday, February 7th, 2020

image Years ago, I visited a man in prison who had been convicted of rape. He complained about how unfair the system had been to him, for he had been in prison for nine years. It turned out that he had raped nine women that they had found out about. I remember thinking “That’s only one year for every rape” how many years did each of these women suffer from the fear of it happening again, how did those rapes affect the lives all around? Yet, this man was only focused on how unfair the system was to him. He clearly was a psychopath.

A psychopath doesn’t have a conscience. If he lies to you so he can steal your money, he won’t feel any moral qualms, though he may pretend to. A psychopath lacks empathy, the ability to stand in someone else’s shoes and understand how they feel. A psychopath is someone who sees others as objects he can use for his own benefit. A person with this antisocial personality disorder sees themself at the center of the universe. Some even imagine that they are the only real people that others are only there for his/her pleasure.

Clearly this man was a psychopath without any remorse or guilt, seeing his punishment as being unfair and refusing to recognize what he did wrong. He wanted even needed others to tell him that he was a victim of that system when, in fact, he was the one who victimized so many innocent women.

At the National Prayer Breakfast, Donald Trump attacked supporters of the impeachment drive. Instead of a humble spirit, Mr. Trump proclaimed that he was a victim of the system. He said how unfair that system had been to him. “As everybody knows, I have been put through a terrible ordeal by some very dishonest and corrupt people.” Trump refused to admit that he was wrong to have conspired with a foreign government against the United States. To be fair, he might not be able to see his wrong. For a psychopath, the sense of right and wrong just do not exist. Nixon said, “When the president does it, that means it is not illegal” he was wrong, we do not have a king with absolute power, that was the very last thing that the Founders wanted. Trump seems to think that “When Trump does it, that means it is not illegal” and that is the problem.

Now, Mr. Trump is attacking those who only sought justice. Trump wants to be vindicated because he sees himself as the victim. The fact is that Mr. Trump is no more a victim than that rapist was. All of those poor women who that man had raped, they were the victim, not the rapist! The Bidens and the Nation were the victims of Trump’s treasonous crime, not Mr. Trump! The sad truth is that Donald Trump is unable to see how wrong he is, which means that he will continue to make new victims. Trump will continue to spread lies because he is a liar who has convinced himself that if he says it, it has to be true.

For this reason alone, the Democratic House must do whatever it takes to remove this man from being able to harm the nation! For if the police had not arrested and the court convicted that rapist, he would have gone on raping. In the same way, Trump must be held accountable for his crimes. If that rapist had been able to pack the jury with family members, with people that he had bought off, and some who were afraid to vote against him, it would not have been a fair trial and he would have faced more charges. In the same way, Mr. Trump has not been exonerated, he has just made all but one Republican guilty of his crimes.

We have heard Donald Trump crying about how unfair the system was to him, let’s focus on how unfair Trump has been in his victimizing of innocent people. Let’s call out every Trump supporter who repeats Trump’s lies and hate! It is time, my friends, to put an end to this despicable White House!

The Next Step for Kavanaugh may be Impeachment.

Friday, October 5th, 2018

Author: Al Martin Martorella

With the defection of Joe Manchin and with Susan Collins putting party over morality, it looks sadly certain that the Senate will vote to put Brett M. Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.  The question is whether this ends the story?  Is there a next move?  The answer is no the story is not over, and yes there is another move ahead, but for a while, there may be nothing barring an act of God to stop the placement of Kavanaugh on that Court.

Many were angry at the double standard employed by the Republicans who refused to allow President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland a hearing because they claimed that the election was within six months and the choice should go to the next president.  Of course, this was just the GOP making things up, for this has never been a rule.  As for that rule which Republicans created to block President Obama’s nominee, they broke to replace Justice Kennedy.  The double standard of hypocrisy is enough to enrage most, but if that was the only reason to vote no on Mr. Kavanaugh, one could give Manchin and Collins a pass.

Many have been asking why the rush to confirm Kavanaugh?  Why was the GOP suppressing the evidence that might stop his nomination?  It has been a puzzle seeing that Donald Trump is not very likely to turn around and nominate a Liberal if Kavanaugh was rejected.  Most believe that Kavanaugh is Trump’s get out of Jail free card if Mueller’s investigation should bring criminal charges his way.  There was a desire for a strongly partisan judge which just any Conservative wouldn’t fit the bill.  As with anything kept secret, people began to ask, what are they hiding?

With the testimony of Doctor Christine Blasey Ford, we learned some very troubling things about Mr. Kavanaugh.  One was that he is a heavy drinker, who when intoxicated goes into fits of rage, and that he is guilty of gross sexual misconduct.  Then we found that Mr. Kavanaugh committed perjury during his testimony.  Finally, we discovered that he had been a political hack who stole documents from Democratic Congress people.  All these put together should have disqualified Kavanaugh if it wasn’t for the pressure being put on the Republicans by Trump who fears an impeachment trial.

Trump has been amping up the rage with his attacks on the victims of sexual assault.  He just days ago attacked Doctor Ford and now is going after those women who were only trying to get Senator Flake to hear their pain and not ignore the victims of sexual assault.  “Trump, in a tweet Friday morning, criticized what he termed “the very rude elevator screamers,” who he said are “paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad!” Without evidence, he alleged that the protesters, several of whom said they have been sexual assault victims, were “paid by [financier George] Soros and others.” NPR

With Kavanaugh’s perjury, sexual assault of five women that have come forward and his partisan behavior, Democrats may most likely be looking to impeach him.  Given that the Blue wave allows the Congress to return to Democratic hands, impeachment is almost a certainty.  They would be contingent on Democrats regaining control of the House, the only body that can bring an article of impeachment.

Reps. Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-Ill.) and Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) have already flirted with the possibility of impeachment, and Axios recently noted that “top Democratic operatives are already talking about impeachment of Brett Kavanaugh as a 2020 campaign issue if he gets confirmed to the Supreme Court.”

Under the Constitution, the president, the vice president and “all civil Officers of the United States” (including those in the executive branch, plus federal judges) may be removed from office for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” The procedure for impeaching a president or a federal judge is broadly the same.

There are two parts to the process:

The House is entrusted with the responsibility of voting on impeachment. Its members decide by a majority vote.

Then the Senate holds a trial for the underlying misconduct. A conviction requires two-thirds of the Senate or 67 votes. If there is a conviction, the Senate removes the individual from office.

No matter how big the Blue wave might be come November, it won’t bring 67 Democrats to 33 Republicans.  Well, at least not for 2018, but 2020 is a different case.  That is when we are most likely to see Kavanaugh impeached.  As to a Trump impeachment, it is likely to go the way of Richard Nixon.  Nixon was looking at an impeachment that would have brought out so much damning information about him, that resigning was preferable.  With the promise of a pardon by Pence, Trump may choose to resign if the evidence against him is bad enough.

For now, we will put the Trump impeachment on the back burner and look at Kavanaugh.  The only reason that Kavanaugh is likely to get on the Court is that Republicans have been rigging the confirmation process.  They have held back 90% of the information about Mr. Kavanaugh and blocked an FBI investigation.  When they finally allowed an investigation, it was so limited and controlled to only give the appearance of one.  In other words, it wasn’t a real investigation!

Where this November is unlikely to give the Democrats enough to finalize an impeachment against Kavanaugh, it will give them control of the Congress.  With that, they can start to investigate all the evidence that the Republicans have been suppressing.  They can call for the FBI to do a thorough investigation of Kavanaugh’s past and the charges that he committed perjury.  There may be more damning evidence against Mr. Kavanaugh, possibly more sexual misconducts, even some within the statues of limitation.

All that information should allow the House to impeach Kavanaugh before the 2020 election and the Senate to complete it after the election.  It is a long drawn out process that should not have to be done if the Republicans had only been honest.  They could have gotten a Conservative judge who the Democrats might not have been happy with but would have accepted.  Instead, the Republicans have allowed Trump to lead them over the cliff to destruction.  Hopefully, they won’t take the whole nation with them.

Justice for All

As 9/11 comes upon us once more we are reminded that Mr. Bush has yet to capture Usama bin Laden. Instead he has locked us into an occupation of a foreign country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Since that fateful day the American People have been asking how Mr. Bush could have missed all the warnings. When anyone has brought up hard questions the Neo-Cons accuse them of being whacked out nuts and make jokes about them wearing tinfoil hats. As we see in the first video it is the far-right media (Foxnews) which is making such crazy talk. While the rest of the Nation is concerned about the government spying on American citizens Fox is looking at the stars and worrying that Martians are spying on our television transmissions.

The question for the right is why are they always trying to avoid scrutiny of this White House? The question for the White House is what is it trying to hide? We might also ask when will they start to focus on Usama? What happen to the saying if you are innocent you have nothing to fear? Americans want to see the land return to one of Justice for All.
