Expanding Health Care

I was shocked to learn that those most opposed to expanding health care to children and Medicare beneficiaries are tobacco and insurance companies.

Who are the American people – and the elected officials – going to side with?

While the House and Senate both stepped up by passing bills that strengthen the State Health Insurance Program for children, the Senate bill failed to address critical Medicare issues, particularly when it comes to lower-income senior citizens.

As the conference committee meets to work out differences, the Senate and the House must be encouraged to pass a bill that includes a intergenerational health care package, taking steps toward affordable, quality care for all >>

Medicare beneficiaries are being forced to bear the burden of a flawed health care system. It's just plain wrong that saving $12,000 over your lifetime means you get no help with your prescription drugs under Medicare Part D – especially when nearly half of those denied help are widows or widowers!

Congress should pass legislation that helps children AND older Americans, improves our health care system today and builds a healthier future for us all. Urge Congress to adopt Medicare improvements and stop leaving senior citizens behind >>

Thank you for taking the time to make a difference for millions of older Americans and their families.
