I have heard this last week be filled with joy and anger over the election. I have heard co-workers express how much they hate their jobs. As I walk pass the Lotto machine in the store I overhear an young lady say to her grandmother how great it would be if they could win the big one. Once home I switch the TV on only to see two talking heads whining about their taxes and I turn to the news to hear this story.

Doctors gave 11-year-old Brenden Foster two weeks to live. Those two weeks were up on Wednesday. “I should be gone in a week or so,” he said on Friday. But Brenden's not angry or in mourning; he's too busy worrying about giving the homeless a chance.

After watching this young man, no, not even a man yet, just a boy face life with such bravery and selflessness, I am humbled. Let us stop all the petty complaining that we all do and give thanks to the Lord God Almighty for all the blessings that we have.
